3 Essential Steps for Killing Fleas
Please consult your veterinarian before starting any flea control regiment.
Use RESULTS Flea & Tick Killer once a week for 5 weeks. Guaranteed to work!
Q: Why do I need to use it every week?
A: One of RESULTS greatest strengths is also its greatest weakness. RESULTS is made with powerful ingredients. RESULTS breaks down quickly (typically lasting about a week after leaving the bottle) into base elements so you don't have poisons lingering in your home.
1) Treat your pets! - Lightly work the powder into your pet's fur down to the skin. RESULTS Flea & Tick Killer is a contact killer, so if the powder doesn't touch the flea the flea won't die. So be thorough.
Q: Why do I need to treat my pets?
A: Use RESULTS Flea & Tick Killer directly on your pets to kill the active adults that are feeding and laying eggs. This will take multiple applications since the flea eggs in your carpets will be hatching and attaching themselves to your pets. Fleas must eat in order to lay eggs. The more adults you kill the less eggs you have to worry about becoming adults. We recommend treating once a week for 5 weeks or until the infestation is gone.
2) Treat your Carpet! - Lightly and uniformly apply RESULTS Flea & Tick Killer to all carpeted areas and then lightly vacuum 10-15 minutes after applying.
Q: The fleas are on my pets why would I need to treat my carpets?
A: Fleas will attach to a warm blooded animal to feed. When they feed they use the blood to produce eggs (as many as 50 a day!). The eggs drop off the animal and into your carpet where they hatch a short time later into larvae. The larvae will feed on dead skin and other organic materials deep in your carpet for a few days. Then they will spin themselves a cocoon much like butterflies. In this cocoon they are virtually impossible to kill with insecticides. They will leave the cocoon when they sense heat, vibration, and carbon dioxide released by an animal passing. They quickly (within 3 seconds) unzip the cocoon and jump on the animal to start to feed and reproduce.
The simple act of vacuuming will provide the heat and vibration to trick the fleas to come out of their protective cocoon. If you have already applied RESULTS to the carpets, these newly hatched adult fleas will come in contact with the powder and die. Since you never know how many days the cocoon has left before it will be ready to hatch, this too will take multiple applications. We recommend applying once a week for 5 weeks or until the fleas are no longer a problem.
3) Treat the source! - You will most likely need to treat outside in your yard or other surrounding areas as well as your pet's sleeping area.
Let's face it. The fleas will never go away if you don't get rid of where they came from! Fleas can be brought in from outside by simply migrating or your animals. They breed in dark, damp areas and tall grasses or shady gardens. Your doghouse is probably a favorite as well as your pet's sleeping area. RESULTS Flea & Tick Killer can be mixed with water at a rate of cup of powder to one gallon of water and simply sprayed outside with a garden sprayer or hose end sprayer. (Spraying inside can cause a tough-to-clean mess and is not recommended). Pay close attention to the areas you think the fleas could be coming from and once again treat once a week for 5 weeks or until the fleas are no longer a problem.
