Why are DIATECT®'s insecticides the best home-use products?

DIATECT® has developed a trade secret manufacturing process which produces uniquely powerful insecticides. These new generation insecticides are designed not to create a toxic build up in the environment.

What should I be concerned about with insecticides?

First, is it an effective insect pest controller? Effectiveness is, of course, the primary reason for buying an insecticide. You will find that the ingredients used by DIATECT® are found in some other products. The reason is that they are effective insect killers.

Second, does the product have any known negative effects to people and pets? Many of the most dangerous products have been removed from the market, but many remain that can be harmful. DIATECT® has developed a product using materials that have no known negative effects to people and pets.

Unlike most insecticides, RESULTS can be used on food crops without restriction up to the day of harvest.

What are the ingredients in DIATECT® products?

DIATECT® insecticides are made of diatomaceous earth, Pyrethrins, and PBO.

Diatomaceous earth is the hard skeletons of ancient diatoms. To people, it looks and feels like baby powder. To insects, it is so hard and sharp that it pierces their coating, causing them to dehydrate and die.

Pyrethrins are oils distilled from the African Daisy chrysanthemum. With no known negative effects to people and animals, this oil is one of the most potent known insect killers. To insects, it is a lethal nerve agent which, when they come in contact with it, causes instant paralysis.

PBO, Piperonyl Butoxide, is a synthetic sassafras oil. While not an insecticide, it increases the effectiveness and the longevity of pyrethrins making our products more economically.

Why does DIATECT®'s special process make a more effective insect killer?

DIATECT® has developed a trade secret manufacturing process which produces a uniquely powerful product that is more effective than other products using similar ingredients.

We apply the pyrethrins and the PBO to the diatomaceous earth using a special process. While competitive products merely mix the ingredients together, we atomize the pyrethrins and PBO oils in a way that allows them to be absorbed into the pores of the diatom skeletons. The result is a product with enhanced insecticide properties where the combination of ingredients is more effective than in competitive products.

So why should I buy DIATECT® when other products use similar materials and are cheaper?

Pyrethrins are fairly unstable and easily lose their ability to kill insects if unprotected from ultra-violet light, air and water. In RESULTS, the pyrethrins are protected by the diatom skeletons resulting in a longer effective kill window once the product is applied as well as extending the products' shelf life. Unlike many chemical insecticides, our pyrethrins decay to compounds and pose no known long term risk to the environment.

I see pyrethroid as a product in many insecticides. Is this the same thing as in DIATECT® products?

Definitely not! Pyrethroids are synthetic pyrethrins. It might seem like synthetic should be just as good, but chemists have failed to truly reproduce the natural product. While natural pyrethrins are a mixture of 6 different molecules, a pyrethroid is a single synthetic molecule. The mixture is a more effective killer than a single molecule. Some insects have begun to develop a defense against the synthetic pyrethroid, but it is believed that it is not possible for them to develop immunity to the natural product.

The natural pyrethrins are more effective and more expensive than the synthetic product. An effective product is what you are after. For insecticides of this type, you really do get what you pay for.
